A Side Track

I went with Lori to her vet to pick up Ophie.  On the way, we stopped at the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum.

The museum is based out of the old Industry train station.  They have a small railyard with several engines, even a Pullman car. They’re looking for sponsors for several of their vehicles.  the Pullman has been waiting more than 20 years for a restoration.

I like trains.  In high school, I took the train home after Soccer/Futball practice every day. Rail is the skeleton on which civilization is built on.  maybe it doesn’t seem like that to folks in California or upstate NY, but places like Philadelphia, New York, London all depend on their trains.

We’ve actually had an improvement in our mass transit system locally in the past couple of years. New and improved rail stations have sprung up for commuters in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. But they are all the modern metal box-like trains, of course, not the really beautiful old trains!
