This man was sentenced to 180 days for shooting his Great Dane. The twist is that the judge gave him the option of dressing up as an educational mascot dog to shorten his sentence.
Argue all you want about the proportional harm that animal abuse does. It’s not as bad as Human abuse, etc. It is still abuse. Even if this man would never harm another human, he still has harmed an animal. How small does a person have to be to take anger out on an animal? It’s a rhetorical question, because that person is quite small indeed.
I post these pictures of Amber, my dog, as an annonymous indictment of her previous owner. Whoever that person is, abused a half blind, half lame, all beautiful dog. Amber is a sweet dog who was left outside on an overly tight collar. I’m pretty sure she was beaten, too. When I got her, she wasn’t house trained, and was quite fearful. It took months to house train her. Indeed, it’s taken more than a year to teach her how to be a dog. She still gets fearful when I take her to new houses, but she is getting better all the time. She doesn’t attack other dogs anymore. In fact, she is very smart, and picks up new commands easily. Instead of throwing her out with the garbage, her previous owners could have had a great dog with just a modest investment of kindness.
Here’s to you, Amber… chuckles… knucklehead… Little Dog… Mrs. Gorbachev… bud 🙂
