Mount Hope

Mount Hope Cemetery Photo Set

I’ve been exploring Mount Hope Cemetery off and on since college. I lived next to the cemetery for 4 years in Kendrick hall when I was an undergrad.

Mount Hope was the first municipal Victorian Cemetery in the US. Opened in 1838, it is still in operation. Frederick Douglass and Susan B Anthony are interred here.

The cemetery is filled with interesting geological formations and statuary. It’s a good place for study and reflection… even a pickup game of frisbee golf
