This was my parking space this morning. Each year, the high school holds a DWI demonstration in the Computer Services parking lot. The demonstration shows a Fire and Police response to a drunk driving accident. A Sheriff’s deputy narrates the scene for the students. In the demonstration, the driver is killed. The lady who plays her mother arrives on scene about 10 minutes later.
After the mother was led away, the driver was put into a Coroner’s vehicle and driven away. A DWI advocate spoke to the group after the demonstration.
Every 10 or 15 seconds, a member of the crowd would walk up and stand behind him. Each person represented a drunk driving related death in the U.S.
It’s Prom Weekend, be safe.

What a fantastic way to get the message across. We just had an incident here where four high school seniors died in an accident in which alcohol was found in the wreckage – and this happened just 4 days before they were to graduate. Too bad they didn’t have this type of demonstration – maybe they would still be alive today.
